This years most risky makeup trend is not rainbow eye makeup, holographic lips or pink and purple highlighted cheekbones but rather something as simple as can be- NO makeup. We see more and more women go au naturel daily rising the popularity more and more. The no makeup movement gained hype when Alicia Keys showed up with a completely bare face to a red carpet appearance. This was first shocking to girls all over but she soon served as a role model to young girls and celebrities all over the world. Many women are now posting makeup free selfies with the hashtag #nomakeupmovement in order to gain popularity among girls and women of all ages. This movement has inspired many to feel confident in their own skin. More of a focus is put on skincare and skin health rather than concealing the skin and not allowing it to breathe. Just by seeing that celebrities have flaws gives their self-esteem a boost and helps them stop trying to mask imperfections- and instead embrace them. After Alicia Keys, Kim Kardashian was also spotted making a makeup-free red carpet appearance. A-list celebrities such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Kylie Jenner and Lady Gaga also posted makeup free selfies in support of the movement. The reason of the movement is to show girls and women that makeup doesn’t change everything and everyone should be comfortable in their own bare skin. In the end, girls should do anything they wish and feel confident in. If they feel confident with makeup, then that’s beneficial for them: if they feel comfortable without makeup, then that’s the best option for them. It’s all based on personal preference.
