The All Armenian Orchestra (AAO) is an initiative of The Ministry of Culture of Armenia with the goal of unifying the Armenian nation under a renewed spirit and hope. This year we will see the participation of 70 professional musicians from 20 countries.
The All Armenian Orchestra’s logo is a phoenix, shaped as two ‘H’ letters of the Armenian alphabet, symbolizing the rebirth of Armenia out of the ashes of Genocide. As the triumphant phoenix, Armenia will rise again! This spirit will be omnipresent on April 24th, when the AAO performs a selection of works by top Armenian composers and demonstrates the global intellectual and creative potential of the Armenian nation.
Musicians will unite from around the globe for this performance from such orchestras as the: Bolshoi Theater Orchestra, Mikhailovsky Theatre Orchestra, Frankfurt Radio Symphony, Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra, Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra, IlluminArt Philharmonic Orchestra (Tokyo), Sinfonia Toronto, Portuguese Symphony Orchestra, La Monnaie Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre national de Lille, Lebanese Philharmonic Orchestra, Damascus Symphony Orchestra, Oviedo Filarmonía, Georgian National Opera and Ballet Theater of Tbilisi, Acapulco Philharmonic Orchestra, Guayaquil Symphony Orchestra, National Orchestra of Belgium, Orchestre national de France, Valencia Symphony Orchestra, Gewandhaus Orchester, and many others.
For this occasion, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Armenia has commissioned a new work, “A Poem to Victory,” from renowned Armenian composer Tigran Mansurian. Works by Aram Khachaturian, Barsegh Kanachyan, Alan Hovhaness, Arno Babajanyan, Edvard Mirzoyan, Alexander Arutiunian, Ghazaros Saryan, Edgar Hovhannisyan, Avet Terteryan, Konstantin Orbelian Sr., Alexander Ajemyan, Komitas-Sharafyan, Serj Tankian, will also be performed.
It is our hope that the All Armenian Orchestra will demonstrate the capacity of the Global Armenian to inspire peace, harmony, and cooperation with all nations.
This year again, I have the honor to participate in this huge event. It is unimaginable not only to hear the music performed by all musicians but also when you become part of it, especially when you perform the new work composed by a great composer Tigran Mansurian, you become the happiest person in the world.
