Behind the Classroom

“The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires.”

-William Arthur Ward

You see your professors five days a week at a minimum. You exchange ideas and information about a variety of topics. You learn from them but how much do you learn about them? You may be talking to them after class but again, most of the time you’re discussing things that took place in the classroom. Do you know why they teach the way they teach? Do you know why they teach the things they teach? Did you ever wonder why out of all the places in the world they ended up in Armenia?

Every day we make choices and choose paths in life. And so do our professors. They are the people they are because of their stories. We learn about the stories of our peers when communicating with them outside of class, but we do not necessarily have that opportunity with our beloved professors. Therefore, as our multimedia project for the journalism course, our group decided to inspect the stories of some of the international professors at AUA. We hope that our website will serve as a platform for the students at AUA to familiarize themselves with the stories of the amazing individuals lecturing them in the classrooms. Click, scroll and explore the stories behind the classroom.
